I will say that we have been having an amazing time.  We circumnavigated Ireland, we’ve been sailing for a week in France, we’ve visited my husbands grandmother in Portugal, and were spoiled by her, we’ve been cycling and running and doing our best to thoroughly enjoy our holiday.  We are testing our marriage these days by seeing how long we can go without showers and still stand to be around eachother (so far it’s about 3 days).  It turns out, we live quite comfortably in our little van, I wonder if that has something to do with living on boats before.

Anyways, I haven’t forgotten how to use my camera, although my husband has accused me of neglecting my digital one for my polaroid recently. Here is a smattering of photos from a few of the places we’ve visited.

Some of my favorite photos I only have in hard copy form at the moment, my polaroids (seriously, I’m in love with my SX70).  Those will have to wait to be shared until we get home.

She’s been an easy person to keep up with, because every once in a while, we find ourselves in the same corner of the world again.  This time, it was in London, and she had just gotten engaged to Jonas.  She’s American, he’s German and they have such an amazing outlook on this life, and this world.  Eliot and I had an awesome day with them, touring around London, eating at the best Chinese restaurant I’ve been to outside of China, chatting about all their travels, their plans for the future, and commiserating a bit on the bureaucratic hassles that go along with marrying someone from another country.

It felt so good being able to do this shoot.  Once again, I feel so lucky that I have been able to travel and meet these kinds of people. People who are doing incredible things, and meeting other awesome people, and then they introduce you to them.  And it seems to just keep getting better.

When I met Kim, I felt a sort of kindred connection with her.  If only because she was an American girl marrying a British boy, and she was giddy in love.  I can sort of relate to that

Their wedding day was filled with love and a huge portion of emotion.  The father daughter dance was especially a tear jerker.

Travel Update :: We are currently in France, visiting my inlaws at their home here.  We’ll be out sailing in the Gulf of Morbihan for the next few days, but I promise I will share some photos soon.

I had every intention of blogging two weddings before leaving the states.  But some things can’t be planned for, and our last two days at home were pretty packed full.

Onto the wedding ::

This celebration was so intimate and so beautiful.  Michelle and Gary have a tight knit family and about 20 of them were there to be a part of their day.  The setting was on Manasota Key at Gary’s step father’s house, and it as stunning.  There was hardly anyone else on the key apart from this wedding party.  I love how Michelle and Gary broke from tradition, and made the day about them and their commitment to each other.  Surrounded by love and good vibrations, during their ceremony, it was emotional.

After the beautiful ceremony everyone got into a big party bus and headed to the restaurant where dinner would be.  It was a cozy little Italian place that had set up the back terrace for the group.  Again, everything about this intimate celebration was done beautifully.  Wine was flowing and there were beautiful toasts being said.  Thank you so much Michelle and Gary, I loved everything about your day and was so happy to be a part of it all.

This is a proposal I shot a few weeks back for a friend of mine.  Proposal turned mini e-sesh.  It was a complete surprise and I was posing like I was just taking a photo of the sunset.  Very fun to be a part of.  Here is Andrew and Hannah ::

Also :: The unique and always stunning wedding blog BeyondBeyond just released their first ipad only magazine.  Amma, the blog owner, always features the most beautiful weddings.  She is different from the other wedding blogs, in that she focuses on the imagery and beauty that come from someone’s special day, rather than just the details.  I have been so fortunate to have one of my weddings featured on her blog in the past, and now she has featured Dyana and Chris’ engagement session in the very first magazine.  It is free to download, so if you have an iPad go get it here.

I’m doing it again.  I’m writing a sentimental blog about leaving a place I’ve come to know as ‘home.’  My collection of “homes” is becoming more extensive, and not in the billionaire sort of way.  More in the homesick sort of way.  Places I’ve been where I’ve had a community, laughed, made lifelong friends, cooked meals, cried, and moulded my life into.  A place I am going to miss so much I will feel sick over it.  Florida is now one of those places that holds a little piece of my heart.  And it might be the hardest place to leave yet.

I can’t begin to describe the amazing friends we’ve made here.  Never before have I felt so welcome in a place by complete strangers.  From the day we moved in we had people stopping by our house to welcome us to the neighborhood, simply because we had a mutual friend who had told them we were now living here.  We were invited to birthday parties and BBQs before we even knew anyone.  When we moved to a new house in the same neighborhood, these people came again to offer their trucks, or hands to help us.  When we got married in Oregon, many of them made the long trip from Florida to come and celebrate with us. They have become some of our closest friends, and I will never forget their kindness in those early days when we first got here.  The little village of Ozona has set the bar high.

Our next move is to travel for a few months before settling on a place to live.  We are headed to Europe where our next home will have four wheels.  We are going to road trip, visit friends and family, and see a new part of this big world via camper van.  April 5th is our departure and we’ll be back at the end of July to sort out the next part.

I have some blogs lined up and I’ll be sharing some recent shoots.  While we are away I plan on blogging, but mostly just in photo form.  So get ready to see Europe through my eyes.
